Kinetic energy is he energy of motion. An object that has motion - whether it is vertical or horizontal motion - has kinetic energy. KE or kinetic energy is equal to 1/2 mass (m) times the velocity (v)^2. this equation reveals that the kinetic energy of an object is directly proportional to the square of its speed.Their are 3 forms of Potential energy.. The Potential energy is the energy is the stored energy of position possessed by an object. The equation to find potential energy of a spring 1/2kx^2.... K= the spring content....X= is the displacement of the spring from equilibrium. Gravitational potential energy is the mgh. this is the Mass times the gravitational acceleration times hight.. gravitation acceleration is always equal to 9.81 m/s^2 on earth. The Mechanical energy is equal to the KE+PE.
