Physics in Wegmans
In Wegmans today I dropped a box of crackers on the floor as i was grabbing them off the shelf. The box weighed about .5 kg and was about 3.5 ft up on the shelf when in fell. Using simple kinematics, I realized it did not take very much time to fall to the ground.
a=9.81 m/s^2
t=?
d=3.5 ft
Vi=0 m/s
Vf=/
Using d=Vit+1/2at^2, I solved for t.
t=.84s
The funny part is that I caught the box of crackers about a foot above the ground. This makes my reaction time very fast:) ...approximately .44s
Nicee.
