The widow maker
Whats better for a halloween post than talking about THE WIDOW MAKER? Answer: nothing.
THE WIDOW MAKER was the lethal killing machine that me, thatguy and [not] the brightest bulb built. With two springs as the power source (.5kx^2 turns into .5mv^2), no one wanted to be in the way of it (I salute Mr. F for standing out in the field to mark our spot). And it was powerful. Just a little too powerful as it was...
Even we, the creators, underestimated it's power (not work/time power), and it broke itself during it's first launch (hey at least it had a longer career than JarMarcus Russell). We had bulit in a piece of wood to stop the arm from going all the way forward, but put no padding on it. Therefore, the impulse (change in momentium/time of change) was too large for the 2x4 to handle. The padding would have increased the time, therfore decreasing the impluse. But even THE WIDOW MAKER can't escape death...
Random Sports Fact: David Freese's Game 6 walk-off homer was the 4th time that a World Series Game 6th ended with a homer. (spolier alert: the Cards won game 7)
