track

When we discuss the center of mass of on object, we can think about how it applies to practical uses. We have already discussed basketball, but when it comes to track there are many different events that the center of mass can be discussed. Probably the most apparent, high jump. We all relatively know how someone goes out and high jumps, but with are advanced knowledge of physics, I thought we could discuss if they are accurately doing their best to move over the bar. The objective is obviously to take your mass and use the momentum of your jump to lift yourself up, and over the bar without touching the bar. Knowing this, do you beleive that jumpers effectively use physics to jump, or is there a better way in which they could possibly go higher.
