AP Physics 1 Essentials An APlusPhysics Guide
By FizziksGuy In Books
AP* Physics 1 Essentials is an easytoread guide to the entire AP Physics 1 course, featuring more than 600 workedout problems with full solutions and deeper understanding questions. AP Physics 1 Essentials covers all major topics included in the AP Physics 1 course, including: kinematics, dynamics, momentum, impulse, gravity, uniform circular motion, rotation, work, energy, power, mechanical waves, sound, electrostatics, and circuits.
AP Physics 1 Essentials is integrated with the APlusPhysics.com website, which includes online question and answer forums, videos, animations, and supplemental problems to help you master the essential concepts of physics.
This book is designed to assist physics students in their high school AP Physics courses both as a guide throughout the course as well as a review book to assist in endofcourse exam preparation. Its focus is on providing the bare bones, essential concepts necessary for success in the course in a straightforward and easytoread manner, leaving development of indepth problem solving and lab work to the classroom, where it is most effective. In short, this is not intended as a substitute for a standard textbook or course, but rather as an invaluable supplementary resource.
New 2nd edition includes more than 90 APstyle problems to test your understanding and help prepare you for the AP Physics 1 Exam. Additional supplemental AP1 level problems are available on the APlusPhysics site.
Note: This is a license for a digital download of the PDF version for use by one person only on up to five electronic devices. This document may not be printed, edited, redistributed, resold, or licensed to any other user. Once the file has been downloaded no refunds will be given.

BLOG: APlusPhysics Community Blog Starter Assignment
By FizziksGuy In APlusPhysics Guides
Handout and directions for student physics learning blogs on the APlusPhysics Community. I hand this out in the fall each year and have students write a blog post every two weeks as a great way to receive ongoing feedback from the students while also allowing them to practice their transfer skills. As a bonus, many find it fun, especially when they track the number of views the blogs get (view counts over 300 aren't uncommon anymore, and one blog post was even referenced in "The Physics Teacher.")

Breakdown of June 2013 Regents Physics Exam
By FizziksGuy In Exam Prep
Diagnostic Guide for the June 2013 Regents Physics Exam
I use these to help students prepare for the Regents Exam each spring. Students take the exam, which is scored by the instructor, then students are directed to use the diagnostic guide to determine the percent of questions they answered correctly under each topic. This information is then used to develop a personalized action plan to help each student focus their review efforts in areas that will return the biggest "bang for the buck."

Fundamentals of LaTeX for High School Students
By FizziksGuy In Books
LaTeX is a commonly used science, technology, engineering and mathematical (STEM) typesetting program. It is designed to allow writers to focus on content while producing high quality output. Unlike Microsoft Word or Apple Pages, however, it is not a whatyousee is what you get (WYSIWYG) interface, and therefore has a steeper learning curve than some of the more commonly available writing tools. The program is available on a wide variety of platforms, including Windows, Mac OSX, Unix, Linux, and even iOS. For the purposes of getting started, we'll assume you will be using a webbased implementation of LaTeX.
Advantages of LaTeX are a clean, crisp output while allowing the writer to focus on writing and content as opposed to appearance of the final document. Students are highly encouraged to focus on writing the entire document first, then coming back later to tweak the stylization and appearance of their final product.
First invented by Don Knuth in 1970, LaTeX was designed as a tool to help publish a computer programming book. Since then, however, it has been built into a wide number of systems and applications, some free, some commercial, and has been expanded with a wide variety of packages which extend the functionality of the typesetting system.
This guide is intended to provide you a starting reference. Although it looks complex and does involve a bit of a learning curve, once you gain a bit of experience you'll find you can write high quality technical documents very quickly. Please note that there are tons of additional commands and capabilities built into LaTeX that are extremely accessible with just a bit of GoogleFu.
