  1. During my driving lesson, we went from a side road onto the highway. This relates to physics because the horizontal acceleration of the car changed quickly. However, the vertical acceleration stayed the same because of gravity. Gravity on Earth is always 9.81 meters per second squared down.

  2. BREAKING NEWS:

Young Irondequoit High School Students Do the Unthinkable

Using only a tape measure, ball and stopwatch, students determine the acceleration due to gravity. Doing multiple trials to come up with accurate data; they came up with an acceleration of 9.77 m/s^2. With only a .41 percent error, teachers are amazed and proud of the accomplishments made. Physics teacher Dan Fullerton states, "I'm very surprised, I wouldn't have been able to do this." How it was done seems quiet simple yet interesting. Dropping a ball from 2 meters high, timing how long the fall took and using the formula a = 2d/t^2... the students made it look easy. We are waiting for further information on the topic therefore no students names have been mentioned at this time.

The speed limit on Cooper Road in front of the high school is 35 mph. as part of an Irondequoit Police Department safety project, your team has been asked to gather data about the speeds of cars driving down cooper road using a stop watch and a tape measure.

    1. We stretched out the tape measure so that we could get a distance of ten meters.
    2. As a car would pass, we would start the stop watch at the beginning of the ten meters, then stop it as it passed the end of the ten meters.
    3. The color of the car and the license plate were recorded as the car passed.
    4. We collected times for ten different cars.
    5. Then we averaged the times of the two readings, then found the speed of the cars going by.
    6. Lastly, we made a graph out of the data collected.

  4.         My name is Heather and I am excited for this year. I enjoy playing field hockey and skiing. My favorite subject is math and science was up there until I took chem. Chem was really hard for me but I hope I understand physics better. English class is easy for me. Overall I hope it is a fun year and class.

I am taking physics because it was the next science up. However, after the first two days I realized it seems like an enjoyable class. The teacher seems really nice and funny and I hope it stays that way. Usually I do bad on tests but good on classwork and homework so I hope that will be enough for me to get a good grade. I don't really know what physics is all about either, I haven't heard much.
