heather_heupel Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 BREAKING NEWS: Young Irondequoit High School Students Do the Unthinkable Using only a tape measure, ball and stopwatch, students determine the acceleration due to gravity. Doing multiple trials to come up with accurate data; they came up with an acceleration of 9.77 m/s^2. With only a .41 percent error, teachers are amazed and proud of the accomplishments made. Physics teacher Dan Fullerton states, "I'm very surprised, I wouldn't have been able to do this." How it was done seems quiet simple yet interesting. Dropping a ball from 2 meters high, timing how long the fall took and using the formula a = 2d/t^2... the students made it look easy. We are waiting for further information on the topic therefore no students names have been mentioned at this time. Quote
