{"id":61,"date":"2009-10-26T05:07:00","date_gmt":"2009-10-26T09:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/aplusphysics.com\/wordpress\/regents\/uncategorized\/phullertons-phantabulously-phun-physics-phridays\/"},"modified":"2009-10-26T05:07:00","modified_gmt":"2009-10-26T09:07:00","slug":"phullertons-phantabulously-phun-physics-phridays","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aplusphysics.com\/wordpress\/regents\/uncategorized\/phullertons-phantabulously-phun-physics-phridays\/","title":{"rendered":"Phullerton&#8217;s Phantabulously Phun Physics Phridays"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As part of our ongoing mission in this class to better understand the world around us by taking our theoretical classroom knowledge and applying it to the &#8216;real world,&#8217; I&#8217;d like to review our experimental assignment known as &#8220;Physics Phridays.&#8221; Adapted from an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aapt.org\/\">AAPT<\/a> article by <a href=\"http:\/\/scitation.aip.org\/getabs\/servlet\/GetabsServlet?prog=normal&amp;id=PHTEAH000045000009000574000001&amp;idtype=cvips&amp;gifs=yes\">Maria Falbo<\/a>, the assignment will run as follows: <a href=\"http:\/\/img265.imageshack.us\/img265\/3943\/speedphysicsjv1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 233px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px\" height=\"161\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/img265.imageshack.us\/img265\/3943\/speedphysicsjv1.jpg\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Each student is to find three (3) examples of physics inaccuracies or misrepresentations in the media over the course of the year.<\/li>\n<li>Highlighted examples are reviewed on Fridays as single-page PowerPoints, videos, whiteboard explanations, or other live presentation explaining why the example is inaccurate and what could be done to correct it.<\/li>\n<li>Examples are to be relevant and substantial (i.e. misspellings and typos don\u2019t count).<\/li>\n<li>Examples may not be repeated within a class or across classes. First to present is first to get credit.<\/li>\n<li>All three examples will count as one test grade (100 points) for the fourth quarter.
