Why? It&#8217;s velocity is constantly changing, because velocity has a direction. Since acceleration is a change in velocity, the car must be accelerating.<\/p>\n<p>CENTRIPETAL ACCELERATIONS<\/p>\n<p>Centripetal acceleration is a vector quantity directed toward the center of curvature. Its magnitude is calculated from ac=v2\/r.<\/p>\n<p>When an object moves in a circle, its velocity is constantly changing. This changing in direction indicates that the object is being accelerated. Since velocity is a vector quantity, any change in magnitude (speed) or direction indicates acceleration.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/lh5.ggpht.com\/_-38IRP7XOK8\/SwQSmfYHpAI\/AAAAAAAABXw\/ANVR3ZhPHzE\/s1600-h\/clip_image001%5B3%5D.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"clip_image001\" src=\"http:\/\/lh4.ggpht.com\/_-38IRP7XOK8\/SwQSmvJN-6I\/AAAAAAAABX0\/Nod7bxqO29A\/clip_image001_thumb.gif?imgmax=800\" width=\"160\" height=\"205\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<p>Since we&#8217;re already talking about acceleration, we can relate this directly to Newton&#8217;s 2nd Law&#8230; F=ma.
