Welcome to IHS Regents Physics!
Course Description
Regents Physics is an introductory course in high school physics designed to prepare students for the New York State Board of Regents Physics Examination. Students should be familiar with basic algebra, geometry, and trigonometry in preparation for this course. Students will be required to take a mid-term and comprehensive final exam. Regents Physics involves a significant amount of lab work, hands-on activities, and exploration. Key topics include:
- Kinematics (1- and 2-D motion)
- Dynamics (Forces)
- Circular Motion and Gravity
- Momentum and Impulse
- Work, Energy, and Power
- Electrostatics
- Circuits
- Magnetism
- Waves
- Modern Physics
Course Materials
Each day students will need the following materials:
- Notebook
- Something to write with (blue/black pen or pencil)
- Scientific calculator
Course textbook, Physics: Principles and Problems from Glencoe Science, is available for sign-out from the school library. Students will also be provided a Regents Physics Reference Table, a document containing a list of formulas and key information required for success in the course. Students will make extensive use of the APlusPhysics.com website, which contains a variety of resources for students including:
