blog-0749383001381106628.jpgPhysics is everywhere. Even in the sewers of NYC, in the world of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Whether fighting villans such as Shredder or training under Master Splinter these turtles demonstrate a kickbut use of physics. For example, while Michelangelo is fighthing, he loses his balance and falls off of on a building. Now lets supposse this building is 142 meters high (the average height of NYC buildings) .And on t.v. it takes five seconds for him to fall. We can callculate the average speed he travled by putting distance/time. So 142meters/5seconds = 28.4m/s. Still don't know how fast that is? well 28.4m/s compares to about 63.5miles/hour. So yeah I would say it's pretty impossible to land on one hand and then backflip onto your feet after falling at an average speed a little less then of a car on the highway. The turtles are always fighting bad guys. In one scence they chase the Kraang all through downtown. Now we can measure thier chase in several ways. We can measure thier distance which is a type of scalor. This would be the total amount of of thier postion change. or we could measure thier displacement which is a vector. This would measure the straight line distance from thier starting point to thier ending point with a direction. Or in other words the quickst possible route they could have taken to get from thier starting point to thier ending point neglecting the fact that objects such as building would be on this path. Lastly we all know that Michelangelo loves to play tricks on his brothers, especially Raphael who has quite a bit of a temper. Suppose that Mikey throws a water ballon at Ralph and in response he launches Mikey into the air. At the highest point in the aire, mikey has an acceleration of zero. and on eather side of this highest point he spends an equal amount of time in the air.The time it takes him to reach the highest point is the same time it takes for him to fall from his highest point. And when you add these times together, you get the total time he has spent in the air. So suppose Mikey spends a total of 30 seconds in the air. you would know that he is spending 15 of these seconds going up and the remainning 15 seconds falling. Well this just goes to show that we are surrounded by physics
