Physics of Badminton

(0 reviews)

In the Olympic sport of badminton there is physics present in every move that takes place on the court. Some of the physics that takes place on the court is kinematic equations as well as momentum and impulse. Starting off with the kinematic equations there is an initial velocity and final velocity as well as the ability to travel a certain distance and have an acceleration if there is a spike. There is also momentum and impulse in the the shuttle (Birdie) hitting the racket sending an impulse through the racket as well as momentum coming through the shuttle sending it back over the net. This is how there is physics in the sport of badminton.

Badminton is a Sport where players score points by striking a shuttlecock with their racket so that it passes over the net and lands in their opponent's half of the court. It involves various aspects of physics, such as aerodynamics, projectile motion, kinetic/potential energy etc..
