If you ever need someone to provide that outside force...
-
Not quite sure I get it, but glad to see you getting these blogs figured out!
-
Excellent analysis -- we'll go much further with this type of situation when we talk about momentum and impulse (coming up shortly!)
-
Oh my! Would love to see a picture!
-
I wonder how much force each dog produces...
-
Oh my. Don't tell the comic book writers!
-
Hope poor Timothy wasn't too banged up either. Perhaps he needed a bit more angular momentum to keep from going down!
-
A blog post combining Dr. Who, Modern Physics, and pretty pictures -- what's not to love?

Nice... finally a use for all those metric conversions!
-
Absolutely amazing critters! Looking forward to the follow-up...
-
Mighty cool, AND mighty confusing!
-
Just wait until we talk about Newton's 3rd Law and you learn about how the ball applies forces to you!
-
Even cooler -- even if you run at the same speed, but your direction changes, so your velocity changes. And if your velocity changes, you are accelerating. So if a runner runs around a circular track at a constant 8 mph, the runner would be accelerating the entire time. And speaking of remain at rest until you smell food, I think dinner's on the table. Time to go!

You could almost make a free body diagram for the pencil to determine what forces were acting on it!
-
Looking for a bit more than this, but glad to hear the lab went well!
-
Absolutely. Even things that seem as simple as dropping bombs from a plane (OK, not that simple) -- how fast did you need to go, and how high do you need to be so you don't blow yourself up?
-
Gotta get me one of those!
-
Cool and creepy all at the same time!
-
Interesting look at distance vs. displacement. A very similar problem was actually on a Regents exam a year or two back!
-
Wow, hadn't thought of that. Just finished up my own blog post two minutes ago and it never crossed my mind all the physics going on behind the scenes... cool!
-
Hmmm, I also wonder about conservation of momentum with the BFG. Would be a neat blog post to look at the BFG's effect when it hits a baddie, and estimate what should happen upon firing it to the shooter...

Very nice. I'm still recovering from the recent loss by my Pirates, but seeing physics in baseball helps make up for it!
-
Very interesting... I'm at gymnastics facilities twice every weekend with my little girls and I really hadn't thought much about physics and gymnastics. I'm betting this weekend that changes, however!

I'm thinking we'll have to do some hockey examples as we talk about momentum and friction!
The Physics of Kerbal Space Program

I'm thinking we should make a giant Kerbal Space Program competition this year's post-AP-exam project... think we could get the entire class excited about it?
